Cebu, as we know it, is the 2nd largest metropolitan in the Philippines. It’s growing at a really fast pace. Because of this, more and more people move to Cebu and it’s become so traffic with the pursuit to move people around. All this is giving certain politicians ideas for more “ideal” projects even if there are more important issues to address.

This is our effort to show you how nice the city sidewalks have become in certain areas. Unfortunately, not many take time to notice it. As a brand rooted in the streets, we want to bring people back to streets and prefer an alternative mode of transport that is oil-free and fun – skateboarding.

What is a brand? A brand is a person’s gut feeling about a product, service, or company. As human beings, we are all emotional and intuitive, despite our efforts to be rational. A brand is defined by individuals, not by companies, markets or the general public. Each person creates his or her own idea of it. Companies can’t control this process – they can influence it. How? By communicating the qualities that make this product different from that. When enough people arrive at the same gut feeling, then you have a brand.

To put it simply, a brand is not what you say it is. It’s what they say it is. It is a concept shared by society to identify a specific class of things.

Strategy + Creativity

On one side are the strategists who are left-brain thinkers – analytical, logical, linear, concrete, numerical, verbal. On the other side there are creatives who are right-brain thinkers – intuitive, emotional, spatial, visual, physical.

Our left & right brains independently do what they need to do. Whenever there’s a rift between strategy & creativity – logic & magic – there’s a brand gap. This can cause a great strategy to fail where it matters – at the point of contact with the customer or it can kill a really clever creative initiative before it’s even launched.

The gap between strategy & creativity can divide a company from its customers so much, that no significant communication passes between them. Companies spend so much on market research and waste it all because they can’t execute it creatively. It’s like watching a VHS film on your HDTV or a Blu-ray movie on an old black & white TV .

Knowing how to bridge this gap immediately gives you a great advantage over those who don’t. Brand communication is essential. When it comes through intact, it goes straight into people’s brains without distortion, noise, or the need to think too much about it. This instantly enables you to develop a rich relationship with your people.

According to a statement put out by company CEO Howard Schultz, the reason for the redesign has to do with diversification. Essentially, by stripping away any mention of coffee, tea, or anything else from its logo, Starbucks can more freely start selling other stuff.

The film attempts to understand the essence of influence, what makes a person influential without taking a statistical or metric approach.

Written and Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.

“Influencers” belongs to the new generation of short films, webdocs, which combine the documentary style and the online experience.
